Now that I’ve reached the ripe old age of 23, I tend not to be quite so bewildered by the same things that the kids I teach are. In some ways I suppose this is a good thing, but on the other hand I’d love to be as enamoured by stickers as a six year old. Saying that, every now and then it’s great when somebody comes along and makes your jaw drop a little – in a good way. This weekend I visited the beautiful Sun Moon Lake and upon riding a boat over to the other side, I got to talking to a group of people from Hong Kong (good times). After a nice little throwback, one man asked me if he could show something to me. *insert brief pause where I considered all the weird and wonderful possibilities that an affirmative answer would produce*. Eventually, I said yes, and he proceeded to perform a magic trick. What a magic trick it was. I can only deduce from the experience that he was in fact a wizard and his story about living in Hong Kong was just an elaborately thought out disguise.
