It doesn’t matter how well you know a place or how long you’ve wandered around it, there will always be one more adventure there. Whether there’s a new street for you to wander down, a new trail through the mountains that you somehow missed the last time you were wandering through that neck of the woods, or simply a new person to adventure with who’ll give you fresh eyes and look at the world from a different angle.
Last weekend, I went back to visit my dear old friend – Hong Kong. I spent over a year here exploring every alley, every market, every beach and every mountain, but the reality is that I didn’t, because a place like Hong Kong always has something else up its sleeve to make you fall in love all over again.
I’ve said time and time again, as have all the other countless people who have lived in Hong Kong, that there is so much more to it than the adventures through the concrete jungle, which by the way are also incredible – Hong Kong skyline is without a doubt my favourite cityscape in the world. But 20 minutes out of the city, Kowloon side, and I once again found myself wandering though the jungle, past hidden temples and views of trees and forest for miles and miles, not a skyscraper in sight, and climbing up the mountain where Hong Kong’s highest waterfalls situate themselves. Hong Kong you did it again – you took my breath away.
